IKAT
The Ikat Collection is inspired by the highly skilled and labor intensive process of dyeing and weaving Ikat fabrics. With the pattern dyed across individual yarns before they are woven into the final fabric, the resulting pattern has a slightly blurry’ appearance- a distortion inherent to the process, yet displaying the skill required to execute such a laborious process. These fabrics are prized possessions within families, passed down from generation to generation, with their value only increasing over time.
Translating a technique traditionally reserved for textiles into furniture, the Ikat Collection strikes at the essence of putting work into the individual components first and then bringing them together to create the final product. By doing so, the skill inherent to the hand is even more pronounced, making each iteration slightly different from the last.
